Samsung tops the list of employers best rated by workers. This year, the aspects that define the highest-rated workspaces are brand reputation, stable finances and job security.

Salary remains at the top of the aspects that people value most about their employers, but in the last year the reputation and financial health of companies became relevant among the motivators of the workforce, according to the Employer Brand report Randstad Research 2024.

What makes an employer attractive in Mexico? According to the research, the stable finances, good reputation and job security that companies offer make them a desired workspace for people.

“This data highlights how an employer brand can remain strong even if top priorities like pay and benefits and work environment are not the main differentiators. It also suggests that employees may value these other factors more than initially perceived,” Randstad notes in his report.

This year, the 10 most attractive employers in Mexico are:

Samsung
Bimbo
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company
amazon
Nestle
Free market
Carso Group
Coca Cola
nissan
Mazda

This year, Samsung regained the lead in the ranking, in 2023 the technology giant was in third position, behind Amazon and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, companies that fell in position in this edition.

Another interesting change is that in 2023 the automotive sector had the largest number of best-rated employers, this year the industries are more varied.

This trend, Randstad indicates in its report, shows that “these employers could compete not only within their own sector, but also with multiple other sectors when it comes to attracting talent.”

The Employer Brand Research is an investigation based on the perception of the general public through an independent survey with a representative sample, at a global level, more than 170,000 working people were consulted.

In general terms, an ideal employer, according to those surveyed, is one that guarantees a good salary and benefits, a pleasant work environment, professional growth, equity and long-term job security.

There is a gap between the most highly evaluated aspects of Mexican employers: reputation, financial health, company location, work environment and safety. However, two-thirds of the workers surveyed rate their company favorably in relation to salary and professional growth.

“Understanding the difference between what employees want and what they believe employers offer provides valuable information for building an employer brand. In addition, the comparative evaluation with what employees perceive that their current employer offers them gives more context to the gaps that must be overcome,” the firm highlights in its report.

Job changes

The research also explored job search movements and intention. In the last six months, 15% of those surveyed changed jobs, this represents a slight decrease of one percentage point compared to the last measurement.

An interesting finding is that although salary and benefits are the aspect that people rate as the greatest attraction of an employer, the main reason for changing jobs was the improvement of work-life balance.

“A better work-life balance is the main motivator for employees to consider a new job, closely followed by a lack of career opportunities and inadequate remuneration due to the rising cost of living. “Employers should take these aspects into account when interacting with their current or potential employees,” Randstad points out in the report.

In the case of inflation and the impact on workers’ purchasing power, people who did not receive any support from their company are more likely to resign compared to those who did receive compensation.
