It was once again positioned as the entity in the country that registered the highest tourist FDI during the first quarter of 2024, with 161.3 million dollars.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Tourism of the Mexican government (Sectur), Baja California Sur was once again positioned as the entity in the country that registered the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the tourism sector during the first quarter of 2024, with 161.3 million dollars.
In this regard, the Ministry of Tourism and Economy (Setue) reported that this figure represents 34.4% of what was captured at the national level, followed by Mexico City with 30.8%, Quintana Roo with 15.8%, Yucatán with 6.3% and Jalisco with 4.8 percent.
The Setue confirmed that the sector that contributed to this achievement corresponded to temporary accommodation services, specifically, furnished apartments and houses with hotel services, which are all new investments.
The main countries from which tourism investment in the entity comes are the United States, Canada and Spain.
Likewise, the state agency placed special emphasis on granting the opening of the southern Californian territory for all those investment projects that translate into more sources of employment that guarantee the sustainability of the resources.
