The most affected products are groceries, due to their ease of movement on the black market

The federal highway sections that cross the state of Querétaro, particularly the Mexico-Querétaro Highway 57 in the San Juan del Río-El Marqués section, rank sixth nationwide in terms of insecurity in cargo transportation, according to Héctor Polti, director of Digital Transformation at the company AI27.
Héctor Polti pointed out that, although Querétaro does not usually appear with a high incidence of insecurity in the Executive Secretariat’s reports, his data show that in May there was a notable increase in robbery attempts, placing Querétaro in sixth place nationwide with 6% of all robbery attempts.
“We saw an increase in Querétaro, in May, which is curious, because if you go to the Secretariat, it almost never has Querétaro as a state with a high presence of insecurity. We who monitor have Querétaro in sixth place with 6% of all robbery attempts right now in May.”
AI27 monitors 4,000 daily trips in the country, and on average, a robbery attempt is recorded in 0.1% of these trips. Of these attempts, 6% occur in Querétaro, meaning there are approximately 4 robbery attempts per day across the country and 7.2 monthly attempts in Querétaro.
The most affected areas in Querétaro include the Mexico-Querétaro highway, especially in the stretches towards San Miguel Galindo, San Juan del Río and El Marqués.
The most affected products are groceries, due to their ease of movement on the black market. There has also been a significant increase in the theft of technology and steel wire, categories that are not normally as affected but have risen to fourth place in incidence of monitored robberies.
“We see that groceries are mainly seriously affected, which is linked to the fact that they can be easily moved on the black market. In terms of technology, it was on the rise, which normally does not have so many theft events, but it rose to fourth place in what we monitor, and steel wire, which is among the most stolen materials.”
In terms of theft statistics, transportation is directly affected in 11% of cases, groceries in 30%, technology in 6% and steel wire in 5%.
