Cancun taxi drivers’ union registers around 400 complaints

So far this year, the Cancun Taxi Drivers Union “Andrés Quintana Roo” has registered around 400 calls with complaints about the service of its members, reported Michel Alexis Díaz Valdez, Secretary of Labor of the organization.

“The situation has decreased, it is logical that we have complaints, we have more than 12 thousand operators, but little by little we have regained the confidence of the citizens,” he said.

He indicated that the main complaints of users are about irregular charging and mistreatment by Cancun taxi drivers.

The interviewee commented that when a complaint is filed, the operator is summoned to the union facilities and, based on the files, some sanction is dictated.

The sanctions against the operators can range from a warning to social work or automatic dismissal in case of a serious situation.

Díaz Valdez recommended that, to file a complaint, users must provide the taxi’s identification data, either the economic number (found on the doors of the unit) or the license plate.

“When they give us that type of data, it becomes much easier for us to follow up on all those types of reports,” he said.
