Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Triathlon exceeds expectations with 1,400 competitors

The 2024 Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Triathlon showed the consolidation of this tourist destination as a national and international venue for major sporting events.

In its 38th edition and recognized as the oldest triathlon in Mexico, the competition was carried out successfully thanks to the presence of hundreds of national athletes and from different countries, including the United States and Canada, in addition to the thousands of attendees who come to enjoy this great sporting spectacle, who at the same time increase tourist activity in its sports tourism format.

As every year, the realization of this competition that requires significant organization and logistics to offer all the necessary conditions, was carried out by the municipal government represented by Mayor Jorge Sánchez Allec, in coordination with the AsTri Triathlon Circuit team.

The inauguration of the event held last Saturday on El Palmar beach, was led by Sánchez Allec in the company of his wife Mrs. Lizette Tapia Castro, in addition to representatives of the military forces and the tourism sector.

The climate and the entire set of natural elements and infrastructure that Ixtapa Zihuatanejo offers thanks to the work of the current administration, have been a fundamental part of achieving the excellent results of this triathlon, local representatives of the tourism sector agreed in an interview.
