The State Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident to determine the cause of death.

A man from Texas died after being electrocuted in a Jacuzzi at a resort in northwestern Mexico. This is Jorge Guillén, a 43-year-old tourist who had traveled from El Paso, Texas with Lizette Zambrano, his wife, who was injured in the incident.
The couple was in a Jacuzzi at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Puerto Peñasco around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Various witnesses recounted the chaotic moment, which was even recorded by the hotel’s cameras. People who were at the scene indicated that they desperately tried to get the couple out of the water but the electric current did not allow it.
In fact, one of the women who tried to enter also suffered an electric shock. Videos were published on social media and one of the witnesses indicated to Telemundo that the resort closed all its Jacuzzis and the State Attorney’s Office opened an investigation into the matter to determine the official cause of Guillén’s death.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to support the couple’s family. The page is asking for donations to help bring the man’s body home and cover the woman’s medical expenses. Lizette, his wife, was immediately taken to the hospital in a very critical condition.
