Due to the complexity of the work, the traffic lane and central median of La Marina Avenue would have to be destroyed
The executive project to mitigate flooding in the El Toreo subdivision and its surroundings is already ready, but beyond the cost, the complicated thing is how it will be executed, said Mayor Edgar González Zataráin.
He pointed out that this work has a cost of 110 million pesos, but the only way to do it is by destroying the vegetation on La Marina Avenue, where there are endemic trees, to introduce two ducts that measure 5 meters wide by three meters high.
“It is a project that is more than expensive and complicated, you are going to destroy, it is the only way to do it, all the vegetation on La Marina Avenue where there are endemic trees, because there would be two ducts of 5 meters by three, it is the only way to drain that water to what is the stream that is by the Mediterráneo subdivision,” he explained.
He added that not only the traffic lane would have to be destroyed, but also the central median of the aforementioned avenue, so other ways are being studied to have the least possible impact, since sooner or later this work has to be done.
“It has been studied, there is a hydrological study, we did it, we already had the resources, the part that corresponds to us, and the State and the Federation, through Conagua, are looking at the issue, which is a work that will have a great impact in benefit, but also in the way of doing it, that is the complicated part, that issue is stuck there, they are looking for how to have the least possible impact,” he added.
It will not affect
In these flood-prone areas, the World Trade Center is planned to be built, a complex consisting of five buildings with 30 stories of height, to which González Zataráin assured that this situation is already contemplated and the construction of it will not bring problems, since the project contemplates diverting its waters to another network so as not to add more to that sector.
