Tequila businessman Carlos Enrique Newton Frausto was killed with multiple gunshots in the parking lot of the Punto San Paulo shopping center on Avenida Américas, in the Providencia neighborhood of Guadalajara.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office reported that the report of the assault was received around 6 p.m. this Friday, where the Guadalajara police found Newton, 51 years old, manager of the Santa Lucía distillery, producer of several brands of tequila, including the one that bears the family name for at least four generations, next to a Chevrolet Tahoe.

It was reported that the victim went to eat with his family and acquaintances, but that the assault occurred when he was already leaving the shopping center and was about to get into his vehicle, according to what his wife told the officers.
