The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) awarded the Magical Neighborhood distinction to 12 localities in the country.

These are La Estación, in Aguascalientes; the Historic Center of San José del Cabo, in Baja California Sur; Ojo de Agua, in Coahuila; Colima Capital, in Colima; Tenayuca-Santa Cecilia, in the State of Mexico, and Tetelcingo, in Morelos.

Bellavista, in Nayarit, also received the distinction; San Francisco “El Origen”, in Puebla; San Francisco Anbanica, in Querétaro; Paseo del Ángel, in Sinaloa; the Historic Center of Victoria, in Tamaulipas, and Mexicapan, in Zacatecas.

According to the federal agency, the Magical Neighborhoods are “emblematic places located in capital cities or points in the interior of the country, which reflect the spirit and essence of a city.”

Each of these spaces, according to descriptions from the agency, are full of charm, tradition and mysticism.

With the granting of the distinction, which has officially existed since September 2022, it is expected that these new Magical Neighborhoods will receive more visitors, both national and international, which activates the work of artisans, cooks and tour operators.

The new Magical Neighborhoods join the Historic Center of Chetumal, which was the first town to obtain this distinction, as well as La Chinesca, in Mexicali.

The appointments to the 12 towns were awarded by Sectur within the framework of the third edition of the International Tianguis of Magical Towns, held in San Antonio, Texas. At the event there were 6,500 visitors and 684 business appointments were made.
