After the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal assured in an editorial that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would be the power behind the throne, the head of the federal Executive assured that this is a lack of respect to Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, virtual president-elect, and to all women.

In his morning conference this Monday, July 1, at the National Palace, López Obrador accused the American media of having a total lack of knowledge of the ideals of the so-called Fourth Transformation movement and said:

“The Wall Street Journal dedicates an editorial to us, full of lies. What serious journalism can it be that says in an editorial in the Wall Street Journal, that I will continue to be the power behind the throne? It is a lack of respect to Claudia, to women, a complete lack of knowledge of what we are, of our convictions, of our ideals.

“But, how does the Wall Street Journal or the directors find out about what is happening in Mexico? Well, listening to (Enrique) Krauze, (Jorge) Castañeda or (Héctor) Aguilar Camín. They are completely wrong. Now they are really ‘flying’ (lying), they are inventing,” he said.

President López Obrador affirmed that he is sure that 99% of Mexicans are unaware of the existence of this American newspaper.

“I think that 0.0001% of the world is reading the Wall Street Journal. It is nothing, a minority. It is also everything that we have to take into consideration, that because I say it… I am sure that 99% of Mexicans do not know that there is a newspaper in the United States specialized in finance called the Wall Street Journal,” he declared.
