To promote a culture of zero tolerance for discrimination in any form, the municipal government of Guadalajara delivered 1,656 plaques that will be placed in businesses such as markets, hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and more, which promise to give a dignified and equitable treatment to all.
These sign-type plaques have the legend that in that establishment there is no discrimination for any reason and present a number to report in case of non-compliance.
The interim municipal president, Francisco Ramírez Salcido indicated that this was possible with the commitment of the merchants who joined this initiative.
“It is the result of the commitment that we assumed in the government of Guadalajara where we have stated categorically that we are against any type of discrimination and it is an achievement in which political expressions were left aside, of wanting to do the thing, of making Guadalajara an inclusive and equitable city.”
He insisted that no one can be allowed to violate human rights because it encourages division and promotes hate speech based on false social stigmas.
This action is the result of reforms to the Regulations to Prevent and Eradicate Discrimination as well as the Municipal Committee against Discrimination.
