The State Comptroller’s Office confirmed that it received a complaint from students and teachers against Alfredo Martín Ulibarri Benítez.
After students and teachers reported him for sexual harassment, the rector of the Polytechnic University of Yucatán (UPY), Alfredo Martín Ulibarri Benítez, was suspended from his position while investigations are carried out.
In a statement, the State Comptroller’s Office (SECOGEY) confirmed that it received a complaint from students and teachers against the rector of the Polytechnic University of Yucatán.
“Given the accusations made, the State Government announced that Ulibarri Benítez has been immediately suspended from his position while the corresponding investigations are carried out,” the agency indicated.
In response to the accusations of alleged harassment and bullying at that educational institution, the Women’s Secretariat (Semujeres) established contact with the affected party and will provide comprehensive and free legal and psychological services to the teaching staff of that institution whose rights have been violated.
Additionally, the state agency will remain attentive to requests from students, teaching staff, and administrative personnel of the university who wish to approach the Secretariat for support.
It should be noted that the UPY is part of the “Distintivo Violeta” Program, which allows it to have protocols in place to ensure it is a safe space for women.
