In two years, 40 Tamaulipas police officers have not passed the Control and Confidence evaluations. The Secretary of Public Security is confident that by the end of 2024 they will have recruited 500 extra elements to the 400 of last year, to meet their goal of force status.
The head of the state agency, Sergio Hernando Chávez García, explained that each year the police have up to 200 casualties, for different reasons, which is why they cannot stop the process to select and discharge more personnel.
He explained that in two years only 40 elements of the State Guard have been discharged for not passing the evaluations applied by the C3, however he denied that there are casualties due to accusations of corruption or having committed any crime.
The official assured that the Tamaulipas police know that any fault is investigated by the Internal Affairs Unit of the Secretariat of Public Security and in case there is any violation of the law they are made available to the Attorney General’s Office.
Despite those who have left or failed the exams, the secretary assured that they have recruited 400 officers this year, and they hope that in the last four months of the year they can graduate another 100 from initial training.
These will be added to the 400 who joined last year, to meet the goal of increasing the force to which the current administration committed itself when it began to function two years ago, and that is that the corporation should have at least 6 thousand officers and it has 3,500.
Also, the head of the department acknowledged that by discharging some of the officers, who are already trained in tactical tasks, it is possible that they can join the ranks of the criminals, however he assured that this happens in all federal, state or municipal corporations, because once the labor link is broken it is impossible to monitor the activities carried out by the former officers.
