Nighttime shooting! Armed attacks in Playa del Carmen leave one person injured

At least two points in Playa del Carmen were the scene of armed attacks that left one man injured. The incidents occurred on 25th Avenue and another on 70th Street and 40th Avenue, causing concern among the city’s residents.

The first attack occurred on the night of Thursday, July 18, around 10:00 p.m. Gunmen allegedly fired at a home located on 25th Avenue, between 94th and 96th Streets, in the Colosio neighborhood.

At the scene, authorities found at least 15 spent shell casings, but fortunately no one was injured in this incident.

Second attack on 40th Avenue

Less than two hours later, on Friday, July 19, at 00:00 hours, another armed attack was reported on 70th Street and 40th Avenue.

In this incident, one person was injured and was taken to the hospital on their own. No spent shells were found at the scene, only holes in the wall caused by the shots were observed.

Agents from the Solidaridad Police arrived at the sites of the attacks to cordon them off and begin the corresponding investigation. Authorities continue to make efforts to determine if both incidents are related and to identify those responsible for these violent acts.

The shells collected in the Colosio neighborhood were sent to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to be attached to the investigation file. As for the injured person from the second attack, his health status and general information are unknown.
