With a decrease in the crime rate such as qualified homicide and kidnapping, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador -AMLO- “showed off” the security and economic potential of Tamaulipas.
“Tamaulipas is growing, it has a lot of potential, it is a very important state and the crime rate is decreasing considerably, we can see it in the results,” said the president in the morning conference on Wednesday, July 17.
As he announced last December, when he inaugurated the new Military Headquarters of Nuevo Laredo, he confirmed that next September he will inaugurate the facilities of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) in this border city.

During this morning conference offered from the National Palace, President López Obrador also recognized the work of the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya.
“It is a guarantee that they have a governor like Dr. Américo, who is a man of integrity, a hard worker, and an honest man. There has not been a governor like that in Tamaulipas for a long time. We are going to win with him,” he said.
He pointed out that in Tamaulipas the crime rate is on the decline.
“There are fewer homicides, fewer kidnappings, fewer robberies. It does not mean that crime has disappeared, no, no; we are constantly facing the problem of insecurity, of violence, it is being addressed,” he said.
The governor assured that Tamaulipas, due to its proximity and the economic relationship with the state of Texas, has high economic potential.
“In Nuevo Laredo, the new facilities of the National Customs Agency are being built, which will be inaugurated in September and which I have already visited accompanied by the president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum,” he said.
He added that the new border bridges that have already been authorized by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, two in Tamaulipas and one in Coahuila, will contribute to boosting economic development in this region bordering the neighboring country.
“These permits can only be authorized by the president and the growth is such that they have already been authorized for Tamaulipas and Coahuila,” he explained.
AMLO added that the tribute to the revolutionary Catarino Garza in Matamoros will be another of the farewell events in Tamaulipas, to which the inauguration of ANAM will be added.
