Among the vast number of surnames in Mexico, we can find some more common than others, some are simple and others far-fetched, but there are surnames that, due to their prestige, are classified as upper class. Therefore, below we will show you the social classes that exist in the country.

Social classes in Mexico

There are six types of social classes according to the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) in 2014, but this information has not been modified, so it remains current.

Low to Low: it is made up of 35% of the inhabitants and they are informal merchants, temporary workers and immigrants, unemployed and people who live on social assistance.
Low to High: it is approximately 25% of the population and they are workers and farmers. They are those who do hard work in exchange for an income slightly higher than the minimum.
Medium to Low: they are 20% of the people who live in Mexico, they are made up of technicians, office workers, supervisors and qualified artisans. However, their income is not very high, but it is stable.
Medium to High: It is made up of business people and professionals who have stable and good economic income. They are approximately 14% of the population.
High to Low: It includes 5% of the people in Mexican territory, and they are wealthy families of few generations with very stable and abundant income.
High to High: They are 1% of the national population and belong to wealthy families of many generations who have obtained very high incomes and whose fortune is so old that now it is no longer known how and when they obtained it.
