The Consulate General of the United States in Guadalajara announced that it already has a date to begin operations in its new building. It will be on Monday, August 12, 2024 when it opens its doors to visa applicants and other procedures.
“After much waiting and hard work, we finally have an opening date for the new building of the United States Consulate in Guadalajara! Mark your calendars for August 12, 2024,” the consulate noted on its Facebook page.
The United States Consulate in Guadalajara noted that the new building is a symbol of the strong relationship and long-lasting friendship between Mexico and the United States. In addition, it highlighted that it has a modern consular pavilion with better waiting areas.
Tips and recommendations
Through the consulate’s social networks, information will be provided on the services it will offer. For now, they ask applicants to carefully check whether their appointments are at the CAS or at the New Consulate in Colonia Monraz.

If your appointment still lists the old consulate address, don’t worry, you have to go there. The address of the “old” consulate is Calle Progreso #175, Col. Americana in Guadalajara, Jalisco, C.P. 44100. The transition of applicants to the new consulate will be gradual.
Since 1881, the United States Government has maintained representation in Guadalajara, initially through a Consular Agency, which evolved into a Consulate General in 1960.

The new headquarters of the United States Consulate in Guadalajara is not the only construction project of the State Department. They note that they have undertaken four other major constructions throughout Mexico: new consular facilities in Hermosillo, Mérida and Nogales, and a new Embassy in Mexico City.
