The Navy, through the Mexican Navy, reported on the security actions they have carried out in the last year in the states of Sinaloa, Durango and Sonora, where they highlighted the destruction of 219 clandestine laboratories dedicated to the production of synthetic drugs.

In a statement, it was detailed that the Navy, in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), through its Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) and in coordination with authorities from the three levels of government, has naval personnel deployed to support the country’s security, in the states of Sinaloa, Durango and Sonora.

In the period from July 2023 to July of this year, in the state of Sinaloa and Durango, 207 clandestine laboratories where synthetic drugs were produced and 7 warehouses where they were stored were seized, neutralized and destroyed, in which around 356,124 kilograms of methamphetamine, 509 kilograms of marijuana and 570,043 kilograms of chemical precursors were seized.

Likewise, four poppy plantations were destroyed, with approximately 347,900 plants, 19 marijuana plantations, with approximately 227,569 plants and a drying room.

“These actions were carried out through the constant deployment of around 250 naval elements, 20 land vehicles, a mobile wing aircraft (helicopter) and two fixed wing aircraft (airplanes) and four drones, in conjunction with ministerial personnel,” detailed the Semar.

Likewise, in the period from February to July of this year, in the state of Sonora, 12 clandestine laboratories where synthetic drugs were produced were also seized, neutralized and destroyed.

In these laboratories, approximately 51,298 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1,400 kilograms of marijuana, 193,791 kilograms of chemical precursors were seized; in addition, three poppy plantations with approximately 103,360 plants, 49 marijuana plantations with approximately 6,306,305 plants and three drying sheds were destroyed.

These actions were carried out through the deployment of around 80 naval elements, 14 land vehicles, a fixed-wing aircraft and a drone.

In this way, the Mexican Navy and the Attorney General’s Office contribute to the combined efforts to combat the illicit activities of organized crime, thereby weakening the production and distribution of narcotics, through coordinated actions with the three levels of government.
