
‘Dominic’, a private boat sailing in the municipality of Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, suffered a fire. The incident was recorded on video.
The State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC) of the entity reported that no injuries or environmental damage were recorded due to this incident.
According to the CEPC, the crew and six tourists were unharmed, after personnel from the Navy (Semar) supported in the emergency.
The fire was captured on video:
“Thanks to the rapid intervention of the Navy (SEMAR), the company Ultramar, APIQROO, personnel from the Isla Mujeres municipality and the solidarity of the citizens, all those involved were evacuated without suffering injuries,” the document states.
In addition, Civil Protection detailed that the incident did not cause a hydrocarbon spill in the area.
Other incidents
On July 13, a small plane crashed on the island of Cozumel, according to PC authorities. The aircraft, a single-engine Cessna with registration ATD206 belonging to the company Aerosab, was operating as an air taxi.
The aircraft took off from Playa del Carmen, suffered a breakdown and fell into the sea in Cozumel, this happened a few meters in front of the island’s international airport.
According to the first reports, the failure of the aircraft was registered in the engine, so it stopped and fell into the water, approximately at 11:00 a.m.
In a video shared on social networks, the aircraft can be seen completely “upside down” and several meters under water.
