Eighteen women, victims of human trafficking in the form of sexual exploitation or forced prostitution, were rescued from the Chilly Willys bar in Playa del Carmen. Among them were both foreigners and Mexicans, as reported by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo, which shared a video of the police operation.

In a statement, the agency announced that an operation was carried out where federal forces managed to rescue 18 victims who were forced to offer sexual services to the bar’s clients.

Pimps Earned Up to $2,000 Pesos Per Service Provided

The 18 sexually exploited women (foreigners and Mexicans) rescued from a bar in Playa del Carmen were forced to provide sexual services, for which the pimps running the business earned between $1,500 and $2,000 pesos, according to the FGE of Quintana Roo.

Foreign victims were promised to regularize their immigration status, forcing them to stay in that place; otherwise, they were threatened with being reported for their illegal stay in the country.

After executing the search warrant at the establishment, 9 Mexican women, 7 Colombians, and 2 Argentinians were rescued.

The Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office indicated that during the operation, the participating police officers managed to capture Juan Carlos “N” and Julio Matías “N,” both of Mexican nationality, who were in charge of the victims at that time.

In the video shared by the agency on its social networks, young women are seen leaving the bar, with the name Chilly Willys in yellow letters on a purple background visible on the wall.

Inside and outside the business, agents who participated in the bar raid and rescue can be seen.

The women covered their faces with hoodies or t-shirts to protect their identity while being taken to safety.

The operation, according to the bulletin, was achieved thanks to intelligence work and through a Control Judge along with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Human Trafficking Crimes, which ordered a search carried out with the support of National Guard elements.

After executing the judicial order, the detainees, as well as the collected evidence, were placed at the disposal of the requesting authority, which will determine their legal status within the corresponding legal term.
