The Southern Tamaulipas Hotel Association indicated that the occupancy they have at this time is higher than 2023 in what represents the summer, but above all, since the statistics began to be measured.
Likewise, hotel entrepreneurs together with Tamaulipas authorities are already preparing the strategy to promote the destination to attract more congresses and conventions during the coming months, in order to increase the figure achieved this year, with 16 events in this field being held until December.
Regarding the occupancy at the moment, Alberto Ortega, president of the Hotel Association, indicated that “in 2023 it was possible to match what was done before the pandemic in 2019, but this year we are above 2023.”
He explained that “in July we closed with four or five points above what was the month of June, May and April, which was Holy Week.”
“That can give us the expectation that in August it will be the same, hoping that we still increase one or two more points and perhaps with these points be above what it was in 2023,” he stressed.
The businessman who hosts businesses in Tampico, Ciudad Madero, highlighted that 2024, so far this summer, “is one of the years that we will have the best occupancy since we have the statistics.”
The businessman assured that “in 2023 we were able to match what was done before the pandemic in 2019 (considered a good year from the tourism aspect), but this year we are above 2023.”
The occupancy at the end of July is closing with a high influx of tourists, for two or even three days, who have sought a way to reach the attractions of Tampico and Ciudad Madero.
“This month we are going to close four or five points above last month, as well as the last three or four months,” said the businessman, therefore they have high growth expectations.
Tourism in Tampico is constant, the occupancy a few days ago was 64%, so these are positive figures for a sector that in recent years has suffered the impact of crises such as the health crisis.
Meanwhile, the most visited destinations by vacationers who decide to be in the southern area of the state, the most positioned tourist destination in Tamaulipas, are Miramar beach, the Carpintero lagoon, the Historic Center of Tampico, among others.
