Oxxo announces major expansion and will open 249 branches in the US
The Mexican Economic Development Company (FEMSA), operator of Oxxo stores, said it will expand its branches in the United States and open 249 stores of this famous chain in the border area.
This, after the company purchased for 385 million DK dollars, which includes everything from the stores to the Alon gas stations and the transportation fleet. According to the information, the Oxxo stores will be located mainly in Texas, while the rest will be in New Mexico and Arkansas.
We are convinced that the experience and expertise of our OXXO team in developing core capabilities such as store expansion, supply chain, acquisitions, segmentation and pricing, will allow us to serve with excellence and simplify the lives of consumers in the United States.
It should be noted that, at the moment, no branch has been announced in California. On the other hand, this is not the first attempt by Oxxo to open branches in the United States; In 2012 and 2014, they opened stores in Arizona and Texas, but closed after failing to obtain a permit to sell alcohol.
According to a bulletin released by FEMSA, 90% of the Oxxo stores that will open will be in Texas and will be focused on people who usually travel to Mexico and on tourists who go to the United States.
Oxxo is one of the largest stores in the world, with more than 30,000 stores that include places, in addition to Mexico, such as South America and Europe, and now the United States.
