
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) published yesterday the study carried out through the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp), to justify the issuance of the Decree by which it is intended to declare Bajos de Coyula II, a protected natural area with the character of flora and fauna protection area, an area of more than 2,809 hectares in the Municipality of Santa María Huatulco, in Oaxaca.
Documents may be reviewed over the course of the next 30 calendar days, with the objective that the interested parties involved in such action can challenge the project.
In a publication dated August 2, 2024 in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), it was specified that the study can be consulted at the offices of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas of this Ministry, in Mexico City; at the office of the Regional Directorate for the Southern Border, Isthmus and South Pacific, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, and at the office of the Directorate of the Huatulco National Park, located on Chahué Boulevard, block 19, lot 5, sector H, La Crucecita ground floor, federal building, in Santa María Huatulco, Oaxaca.
It can also be consulted at the Semarnat Representation Office in Oaxaca, on Sabinos 402, Reforma neighborhood.
“The study mentioned in the first paragraph is available for a period of thirty calendar days, counted from the date of publication of this Notice in the Official Journal of the Federation, for the opinion of the government of the state of Oaxaca and the government of the municipality of Santa María Huatulco, in whose territorial districts the proposed flora and fauna protection area in question is located,” the announcement states.
It will also be available to “the Federal Public Administration agencies that must intervene, in accordance with their powers, as well as to social organizations, public or private, indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples and communities, individuals or legal entities, universities, research centers, institutions and organizations of the public, social and private sectors, interested in the establishment, administration and surveillance of the reference protected natural area.”
