Paris 2024 affects vacations in Yucatan: hoteliers announce low tourism this summer

The Mexican Association of Hotels in Yucatán has reported a decrease in tourist activity this year compared to 2023.

The current vacation season has not met expectations, with hotel occupancy rates falling short of the desired 70%.

According to Juan José Martín Pacheco, president of the Mexican Association of Hotels in Yucatán, last year’s performance was significantly better. Interestingly, July sees more visitors than August, likely due to the upcoming return to school.

Additionally, international events like the Olympics in Paris are diverting tourism toward Europe, which negatively impacts the local tourism sector.
