The president of the Guadalajara chapter of Amcham, Fernando García de Llano, indicated that “Jalisco already has a very strong presence of global companies and American companies in particular, very focused on the manufacturing area for 60 years.”

Guadalajara, Jal. 97% of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) that Mexico attracted in the first quarter of this year, and the average is similar in Jalisco, are reinvestments of companies that are already established in the national territory, and half of that figure corresponds to American firms, which shows their confidence in the competitive advantages of the region, said the director of American Camber (Amcham), Pedro Casas Alatriste.

He mentioned that despite the uncertainty generated by the volatility of the markets and the electoral process in the United States, Mexico will attract important investment projects related to nearshoring.

“It is our business community that is deciding to reinvest in the country and that is taking a significant leading role. That is what we are seeing, many companies that are deciding to expand their presence in the country, open new lines of business, bring many of their plants and their productions from other countries here,” Casas Alatriste stressed.

“Jalisco is not the exception; in the last 24 hours I have visited technology companies that are members of the chamber and they all tell us that within their own corporations, Mexico is winning the healthy competition that new lines of business are coming to Mexico,” said the director of the chamber.

For his part, the president of the Guadalajara chapter of Amcham, Fernando García de Llano, indicated that “Jalisco already has a very strong presence of global companies and American companies in particular, very focused on the manufacturing area for 60 years, and software development companies, technology development companies are constantly arriving and although they are smaller in terms of facilities, they have very high turnover.”

The American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) affiliates 1,300 companies from both the United States and Mexico, which generate 21% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 8.5 million jobs in the country.
