In 2023, the Guadalajara International Music Fair (FIM GDL), organized by the University of Guadalajara through the General Coordination of Cultural Outreach and Diffusion and Esmerarte Creative Industries, launched a unique initiative that generated nodes and meeting points around the Music Industry in Mexico: Conexión México: Moviliza tu Música.
In partnership with Spotify, FIM GDL brought together a group of music professionals with one goal: to share knowledge and experiences in seven cities in Mexico.
Artists, managers, promoters, journalists, marketing and copyright experts: a team of nearly 50 speakers took to the roads to reach Tijuana, Xalapa, Mazatlán, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Hermosillo and Mexico City, bringing together more than 800 music industry enthusiasts. Local talents such as Natalia Lafourcade, Chetes, Chuy Lizárraga, Jonaz, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Banda MS, Sergio Lizárraga, Paty Cantú, Hispana, Samantha Barrón, Ximbo, among others, demonstrated that interest and talent are not limited to large cities.
Given the success of its first edition, Conexión México is ready to tour the country again. In this 2024 edition, five cities will be visited by industry professionals who, in addition to sharing their knowledge, will map local music scenes.
Monetization, copyright, digital tools, festival management, digital marketing and tour organization are some of the topics that will be addressed, with the participation of prominent professionals such as the specialized team at Spotify; Laura García, Legal & Business Music Affairs Sympathy for the Lawyer México; Guillermo González King, General Director of AMPROFON; Gerry Rosado, Founding Partner of Relatable; Sergio Arbeláez, Director of FIM GDL; and Clemente Piña, Legal Director of AMPROFON and many more artists and professionals who will be joining.
Take Note! Here are the dates and cities of the 2024 tour:
Aguascalientes: August 27
Oaxaca: To be confirmed
Ciudad Juárez: September 10
Mérida: November 6

In addition, in October Conexión México will offer a virtual session aimed at attendees from the cities visited in the previous edition.
