The relocation project of the president-elect of Mexico proposes that economic and social development take place in all corners of the country
The president-elect of Mexico has already shared one of her first national projects to be implemented as soon as she comes to power in October of this year, and it is the project ‘Shared Prosperity 2024-2030’, which includes large works for the entire republic, including Baja California.
This plan includes relocation to generate productive chains, technological transfer and innovation. In this sense, connectivity between the municipalities of the peninsula is vital, so the transpeninsular highway will be expanded to two lanes in each direction of traffic.
The Tijuana-Los Cabos highway, the transpeninsular, will be made into two lanes. This work was done when Tijuana, Ensenada and La Paz were very small, all three were ranches, to be honest, it was done to be able to connect the peninsula and develop it economically.
The Tijuana-Los Cabos highway is one of 13 that the Federal Government will work on, whether in its construction, expansion or completion. Shared Prosperity includes improvements and constructions to 12 ports in Mexico, including Ensenada.
Claudia Sheinbaum’s project has several axes of improvement depending on the area of the country. For the border strip, the optimization of the transportation of semiconductors, electronics and medical devices is planned, as well as the strengthening of logistics and the pharmaceutical industry.
For Baja California in particular, work will be done on the transportation of semiconductors and the strengthening of the energy, tourism and agroindustry sectors.
Sheinbaum clarifies that she will let the Army continue as administrator of the large works, carrying out the bidding contests for the contracting companies.
