The Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat reported that on August 7, thanks to the collaboration of Governor Mara Lezama with the administration of the Tulum International Airport “Felipe Carrillo Puerto”, the new rates for sporadic access to the federal zone for tourist ground transportation at the airport were published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
These rates will apply to companies that provide pre-contracted services, such as travel agencies and timeshare companies that operate in this prominent tourist destination.
In order to enter the federal zone and offer their services, tourist transportation companies must be duly incorporated as Mexican commercial companies, in accordance with current regulations.
The new rates that came into effect on August 11, 2024 and will be valid for eight months, are: 100 pesos for tourist transportation cars, 150 pesos for vans, 200 pesos for minibuses and 400 pesos for buses.
The measure seeks to ensure that tourists, both national and international, trust that transportation service providers are duly accredited by airport authorities.
“This tariff adjustment is part of the efforts of the Quintana Roo government to guarantee a competitive and high-quality service at the airport. In addition, it seeks more accessible and fair charges for the thousands of tourists who arrive at the Tulum International Airport,” the state government said in a statement.
As reported by REPORTUR.mx in June, Sergio González Rubiera, president of the Mexican Association of Incoming Tourism Agencies, stated that in response to pressure from transporters, there is already a concrete proposal to lower the rates at the Tulum airport, which would even be below those of the Cancun airport.
