Supercarretera Durango-Mazatlán ya es insuficiente: CMIC

After several decades of insistence that it be included in the national plan, the Durango-Mazatlán railway project now represents a priority, because the superhighway is already insufficient.

This was the opinion of the president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Francisco Salazar Mendía, who said that if Caxxor is no longer interested, other investors will have to be sought.

“It becomes the most important project for Durango and, above all, for the country, since the deep-water port of Mazatlán is considered in the National Port Infrastructure Plan, it is practically authorized. So the Durango-Mazatlán railway becomes a priority also because the superhighway would be insufficient to be able to transport all the merchandise that would arrive through this port.”

“It is the Caxxor group that was in charge of that project, so we will have to start getting involved again and follow the trail of that project and as CMIC we will also have to see what we can get involved in and help with (…) If they are no longer interested we will have to look for other investors,” he said.

He said that the approximate cost of the project is 18 billion pesos, precisely because of the commitment that had been established with Caxxor, but now other investors will have to be sought.
