The Governor of the State of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, delivered this Thursday the highway bypass of the municipal capital of San Juan de los Lagos, in which 220 million pesos were invested and which will be a trigger for the economy of the region and the safety of those who travel on this 10 km long road.
The Governor highlighted the efforts of businessman Manuel Romo, who was the one who started the expansion of this section and, later, the Government of Jalisco completed it through SIOP.
“When is a work of 220 million pesos delivered? Well, we should ask how long has it been since a work of this size was done here in the municipality,” Alfaro said.
“I understood the importance that it was going to have for the connectivity of this region, for the mobility of the city, and for improving the quality of life of the people. It was a much bigger project than we imagined because, as you saw in the video, we had to expand and modernize the bridges and we had to do work that was a technical challenge,” he added.
With the delivery of this infrastructure, Alfaro confirmed that he will return to this municipality for his seventh visit in the coming weeks, where he will deliver the San Juan de los Lagos Technological Institute.
“That is what allows me, a few months away from finishing my responsibility, to be able to return and see everyone face to face, to be able to return and also see what is missing, because one never finishes, you have to deliver a work and they ask you for 10 more and that is how this work is, and it is always like that,” he explained.
The San Juan de los Lagos bypass consisted of building Section 1, Section 4 and Section 5, with the reinforcement of horizontal and vertical signs, sealing irrigation on missing surfaces to achieve uniformity. Cuts and embankments, subgrade, hydraulic base, signs, ditches and drainage works were made. In addition, the Santa Rosa, Santa Cecilia (Coleto) and San Juan de los Lagos bridges were worked on.
For his part, Alejandro de Anda Lozano, mayor of San Juan de los Lagos, thanked the governor for each visit that resulted in support for educational, road, and sports infrastructure and also the recent delivery of the “A Toda Máquina” machinery, to continue working in the rural sector.
“We are very grateful for all his work, for everything that, in his administration as governor, we really cannot complain, we did well like many regions, like many municipalities. We know in advance that he was a great governor. We appreciate his visit because this was not the first, he was here many times,” said the mayor.
Through a video, Omar Paredes, general director of Highway Infrastructure of the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), explained that this bypass began its construction 25 years ago, with a first phase of a two-lane highway, which over time proved insufficient. This new infrastructure was ready with a 20-year vision, since there is the right of way for its expansion in the future to three lanes in one direction and the same number of lanes in the other.
“This government made a proposal to modernize the entire San Juan de los Lagos bypass to become an A4 type highway and serve a number close to 5 thousand vehicles daily,” Paredes said.
At the end of the event, President Enrique Alfaro handed out 218 property titles, which are equivalent to a public deed.
With the cooperation of various government agencies and municipalities, the State Government was able to meet one of the social objectives, which is to provide certainty to land ownership.
