
The Municipal Government of San Miguel de Allende, through the Directorate of Public Services and Quality of Life, began preparations to fill the streets of the historic center and its surroundings with the patriotic colors of the Mexican Flag.
With the placement of the first tricolor flags and urban patriotic decorations, a month full of festivities and celebrations for the 214th anniversary of the Independence of Mexico began, where they will be placing the traditional bells, eagles, national shields and images of the Heroes of Independence, managing to add 62 decorations in the first square of the city and more than 200 symbols throughout the municipal territory.
“The mood of all San Miguel residents is positive about this and encourages everyone to participate; the (Municipal) Administration is doing its part: the streets are being decorated with tricolor decorations, with patriotic motifs and it has an educational background, in addition to the fact that we celebrate it and we all get excited, it is good to instill in the spirit of the new generations the enthusiasm, respect and knowledge for this historical phenomenon that transformed the country and that was born in San Miguel,” said Acacio Martínez, director of Municipal Culture and Traditions.
“We have some decorations, many very beautiful in terms of lights, which are pre-Hispanic: where our Aztec shield is. It will be a play of color in each and every one of the streets in San Miguel. In addition to continuing with the tradition, this is a tradition of placing the patriotic decorations and we do it with all the care, respect and with all the responsibility,” added Laura Flores, director of Public Services and Quality of Life.
Accompanying the placement of patriotic symbols, the celebrations of the Patriotic Month will begin, which include: the “Coronation of the Peasant Queen” and “Coronation of the Queen of National Holidays”; in addition to the “Solemn Pasting of the Banner of National and Patronal Holidays”, the “77th Traditional Symbolic Race”, the “Cry of Independence Ceremony”, along with the “Civic Military Parade” and to culminate a month full of celebrations, the traditional “Alborada”.
In addition, to confirm that it is the unique city for its historical significance as “The Forge of National Independence”, being the birthplace of the First Soldier of the Fatherland: Don Ignacio Allende y Unzaga, as well as being the First City Hall of Free Mexico, San Miguel invites its population, inhabitants of the different colonies, popular neighborhoods and rural communities, to continue dressing all its facades and common areas in green, white and red.
