During the working tour that Governor Esteban Villegas is undertaking in the United States, Durango has been presented as the Land of Cinema to large entertainment platforms such as Netflix.
In addition, together with the touring delegation, the state governor has met with members of the Latin Chambers of Commerce of Los Angeles and the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce California chapter, highlighting the great opportunities that the state offers in tourism, investment, trade and innovation.
Villegas Villarreal celebrated that the first day of activity on the working tour of the United States of America was successfully concluded, where he managed to get a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce of this country to visit the state in the coming days to learn about its potential, as well as through the platform, Durango residents can acquire scholarships for a technical career in cinematography.
During the meeting with the Netflix entertainment executives, the head of Tourism, Elisa Haro Ruiz and Sergio Gutiérrez Barraza, director of Cinematography, presented everything related to cinema and tourism in Durango, in addition to highlighting the benefits of the school that has technicians in lighting, costumes, makeup, set design and more.
“Durango has a great vocation for cinematography with more than 70 years of history in this important industry, which will undoubtedly be of great interest; we have a very rich agenda for three days in California, visiting the studios and offices of Netflix, Amazon, Prime Video, Sony and Warner; we will also be at the New York Fil Academy,” said Haro Ruiz.
This day was complemented by the meeting of the Durango delegation with the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles, in order to generate business agreements with Durango businessmen, promote the state and make known the competitive advantages of the entity, where the State Governor thanked the members for the approach to carry out a coordinated work.
“With this meeting, we seek commercial links so that the Government of Durango and the Chamber of Commerce can find coincidences so that Durango businesses enter the Los Angeles market and also our countrymen who are here and have invitations in the entity,” said Fernando Rosas Palafox, head of the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco).
During the approach with the members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Governor presented the great opportunities for investment, economic development, tourism and everything that Durango has been experiencing in the last two years of his administration, said Victor Hugo Hernandez Fuentes, director of Social Communication.
For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and CEO of ACS Group, Darell Sauceda, stressed that the main point is to collaborate with Durango and see what the needs are in its economic development, to have a mutual understanding and support each other.
To close the day, in a pleasant get-together, Villegas Villarreal and his team were received by the Consul of Mexico in Los Angeles, Carlos González Gutiérrez and fellow countrymen, where the Durango delegation offered all the services of the State Government to the community of countrymen, in addition to taking advantage of the opportunity to taste mezcals and proudly Durango dishes.
On the second day of activity, the Durango delegation will meet with film producer Peter Brener, as well as a meeting with members of the LA Area Chamber of Commerce in target industries for Durango, a visit to Amazon MGM Studios, New York Film Academy and a meeting with Dan Mackler, Dean of NYFA and Sonny Calderon, Vp of academic affairs.
