Another edition of the Concacaf Classic between Mexico and the United States will take place on the next FIFA Date on October 15, when the Tricolor will host the Americans in a friendly match to be played on the Akron Stadium field, home of Chivas de Guadalajara.
In September, the Tri will begin a new cycle and that month will mark the return of Javier Aguirre to the national team to begin his third stage, in which he will be accompanied by Rafa Márquez in the role of assistant.
It was through a press conference held with the governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, Ivar Sisniega, president of the Mexican Football Federation and Amaury Vergara, owner of Chivas, that the official announcement of the match between the Aztecs and the Americans was made, after a 14-year wait without seeing the Tricolor in the city of Guadalajara.
Ivar Sieniega mentioned that Guadalajara is an important venue for the Tri in view of the 2026 World Cup and confirmed that more matches will be held at this venue during this World Cup process. “It is important for the Mexican National Team to play at the Akron Stadium before the 2026 World Cup and not just once, but several times,” he stressed.
