Authorities confirm the arrival of the new variant of monkeypox in Mexico

Regarding the vaccine, the undersecretary said that the Technical Advisory Committee is reviewing the evidence that was obtained two years ago, however, he stated that everything takes a process.

The undersecretary of Health Promotion and Prevention confirmed that a new variant of Mpox is already in Mexico, however, he assured that they are already reinforcing the system to be able to detect the different cases.

He also confirmed that they have already met with public health laboratories to ensure that they will be able to detect the new variants, in addition to distributing the necessary supplies.

Symptoms of monkeypox

If you or someone in your family has been in contact with someone infected and has symptoms, it is necessary that you go to the health unit to receive a diagnosis, which is done with special laboratory tests, only then will you be able to know if you have been infected or not.

Sudden onset of fever (38 °C)
Headache
Exhaustion
Muscle aches
Swollen lymph nodes
Deep weakness
Rash, the first rashes appear on the face, hands and later spread to the rest of the body
It is possible to prevent getting sick by following these measures:
Avoid physical contact with infected or suspected diseased people and with their personal or medical care objects or materials.
Wash your hands with soap and water or use antibacterial gel.
Cover your nose and mouth with the inside of your elbow when sneezing or coughing.
Avoid sharing food, drinks, cutlery and dishes.
Use face masks, both for patients and for people around them.
Wash the sick person’s clothes, towels and sheets and eating utensils with warm water and detergent.
Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces.
If you have symptoms, try not to get close to other people.
Isolate patients at home.
Avoid going to crowded places, especially if there you could have close physical contact with others.
