Citizens destroy sidewalks to plant trees

As a result of the recent heat waves and drought that has affected the country in recent months, Interapas has received reports from some citizens who have proposed planting trees in the middle of the concrete as a measure to counteract the negative effects of climate change and help the environment.

However, breaking the concrete on public roads could have unintended consequences. Carrying out this action without knowing where the water lines pass could bring great risks to the city, such as causing leaks of the vital liquid, warned the institution.

The personnel of the Operation and Maintenance department explained that, although water lines commonly pass through the vehicular stream, some do cross the sidewalks. Therefore, it is essential to consult and obtain the proper authorization before carrying out any maneuver to avoid damage to the hydraulic infrastructure.

Recently, a viral challenge also circulated that suggested pouring water on the ground to cause humidity and charge the clouds to make it rain, a practice that, in addition to lacking scientific support, could result in an unnecessary waste of water.
