A federal judge linked Aldrin Miguel Jarquín Jarquín, alias “El Chaparrito,” alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), to a trial on Sunday, August 25. He was arrested in Mérida, Yucatán, and little by little, details about who he is and what he was doing in southeastern Mexico have been revealed. The dangerous criminal has been wanted by U.S. authorities since 2021.
As a result of a covert police operation that excluded local police authorities, he was arrested on Sunday, August 18. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR), through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), presented charges against “El Chaparrito,” Diana Laura Morga, and Juan Salvador Barajas, all members of the CJNG.
It was revealed that during the operation in Mérida, simultaneous raids were conducted in various cities such as Zapopan and Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The FGR’s statement indicates that Aldrin Jarquín was linked to a trial for his probable responsibility in the crimes of:
– Organized crime, with the intent to commit health-related crimes.
– Operations with resources of illicit origin in the form of possession of resources within the national territory.
Who Is “El Chaparrito,” Miguel Jarquín, Dangerous CJNG Criminal Arrested in Mérida?
Aldrin Miguel Jarquín Jarquín was born on November 18, 1976, in Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico. His nickname “El Chaparrito” is due to his short stature, as he is 1.60 meters tall.
He was an alleged high-ranking regional leader of the CJNG in the states of Colima, Jalisco, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
According to a document issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, based on information from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), “El Chaparrito,” Miguel Jarquín, is a high-ranking criminal within the CJNG.
It is explained that he reported directly to Julio Alberto Castillo Rodriguez, “El Chorro,” son-in-law of CJNG leader Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” who is married to his daughter Jessica Johanna Oseguera González.
He had already been arrested on March 12, 2022, in Zapopan, Jalisco, along with Diana Laura Morga Vega and Juan Salvador Barajas Figueroa.
However, a judge granted his release three months later on the condition that he appear at the hearing for the charge of organized crime, but he never did and went into hiding in Mérida, Yucatán.
The alleged drug trafficker fled, and the FGR took 2 years, 2 months, and 14 days to recapture him, finally, in Mérida.

Daniel Ramírez Peña granted freedom to “El Chaparrito” in 2022, who at the time served as a control judge assigned to the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico.
CJNG Leader Arrested in Mérida: What Was He Doing in Yucatán?
It has been revealed that “El Chaparrito” settled in a residential area in the north of Mérida, Yucatán, where he tried to keep a low profile and posed as a businessman, allegedly a shareholder in various businesses in the Yucatecan capital.
It is presumed that from there he coordinated criminal actions, and it was his base of operations.
Other Arrests
The FGR’s bulletin mentions that along with “El Chaparrito,” Diana M and Juan B were also arrested and linked to a trial as probable perpetrators of the same crimes as the leader.
However, additional charges were added for possession of cartridges and magazines for firearms exclusive to the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
They are also charged with health-related crimes in the form of possession for commercial purposes in the sale of fentanyl and clonazepam.
