As part of the fifth international tour of the governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas Villarreal, now in the United States, the head of the Durango Tourism Secretariat, Elisa Haro Ruiz, met with representatives of more than 70 travel agencies that have already begun to promote Durango as a tourist destination that they offer in a package with the port of Mazatlán.

She explained that these are promotions offered to the inhabitants of the neighboring country to the north, many of whom enter through the border with Tijuana, a city with good connectivity, with up to two daily flights scheduled.

The intention is for tourists to fall in love with the idea of getting to know the natural scenery that Durango has, through the offer of ecotourism in the mountain area, as well as cultural tourism and the experience that Mazatlán offers them with its beaches, a city where there is a direct flight to Los Angeles, California.

“It is something that we have been discussing for many years and that is already beginning to materialize,” said the state official, who pointed out that the agreement with the agencies is that those who do not know the attractions that Durango has, are invited to a familiarization trip, with the objective of having more tools to market it.

“These offers are for both the Anglo market and the Hispanic market, which also opens up the possibility of increasing the arrival of tourism to Durango,” she said.

Meanwhile, in the cinematographic area, Haro Rúiz, reported on the meeting they held with executives from the four most important studios at an international level, which make specific content for Latin America and the important thing is that they have the Durango scenarios on the map.

“Many already had them, in the case of Amazon and Netflix, they have been coming for various projects to the state, however there we were able to offer not only the great variety of locations that we have within a hundred kilometers around Durango capital, but also a unique incentive scheme in the country.”

It is a mix in which they can get back some of the resources they invest in Durango, as well as direct savings to production through the support provided by the state government itself with during the skautin, locations owned by the state administration at no cost, as well as security and permits.

“This can generate savings to production from five to 10 percent of the production they do in our state,” said the Secretary of Tourism, who pointed out that with this it is expected to strengthen the industry in the state through the training of technical personnel and through an alliance with a chain in New York, an alliance can be made that includes international exchanges.
