Young people will represent Guanajuato in the international competition WorldSkills Lyon 2024

“They are coming to a different challenge, where they will compete and will be living with people from other countries, who bring the flag of their country high, and in the same way you have to carry the flag of Mexico and that of Guanajuato very high, knowing that you are people who have the same abilities as any other person, from any part of the world,” said Araceli Reyes, general director of JuventudEsGTO.

The Guanajuato delegation is made up of: Luis Daniel Meza Landeros, Mario Iván Sánchez Arroyo and Erika Elizabeth Grimaldo Padilla from CONALEP León I; Antonio Javier Rojas Carreón and Emmanuel Reynoso Villanueva from CONALEP Celaya; Rodrigo Haziel Campos Valdés, Leri Yosue Méndez Jiménez and Luis Carlos Flores Luna from CECyTE Comonfort II; Eduardo Miguel Martínez and Jorge Adrián Sánchez Matehuala from CONALEP San Felipe.

The young people are winners of the Professional Technical Skills and Abilities Development program that was developed in 2023, where they demonstrated their excellence in various disciplines and prepared hard to face the best competitors from more than 80 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, India, China, Japan, Korea and Chile.

Last year, more than 3,500 students from CONALEP, CECyTE Guanajuato and bivalent high schools participated in the training program, where they received training in areas such as mechanical design, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, cybersecurity and robotics.

From this group, 25 young people had the opportunity to carry out an international immersion in Costa Rica, to perfect their skills and prepare for the international competition.

“You will not only carry that representation of your school, but of your family, your teachers, directors, your classmates; “You are going to be a reference and role model for many young people, so you can already feel proud of having reached this point,” said Salomón Ceballos, president of WorldSkills Mexico.

For WorldSkills Lyon 2024, Guanajuato will be represented by 6 young competitors and 4 experts in the disciplines of welding, mechatronics, optoelectronics and mobile robotics. These young talents will seek to raise the name of Mexico and obtain some medals in the various categories.

WorldSkills is the most important international competition in technical skills, where the best young people in the world demonstrate their skill and passion for their trade. The Lyon 2024 edition promises to be an exciting event, which will bring together thousands of participants and visitors from around the world.

With this action, the Government of the State of Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to promote the talent of young people and provide them with the necessary tools to stand out worldwide.

By investing in education, our state positions itself as a benchmark in the training of highly qualified and competitive professionals, capable of facing the challenges of the 21st century.
