US citizen arrested in Tamaulipas faces murder charges; was reported missing

Tamaulipas authorities arrested Oziel “C”, a US citizen who had been reported missing in Matamoros.

Initially, his relatives reported that he was an active member of the United States Navy, which was denied after he was located. Oziel “C” not only did not belong to the armed forces, but also had a valid arrest warrant for the crime of homicide.

Jorge Cuéllar Montoya, Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson, explained that Oziel “C” was located by elements of the Investigative Police of the Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas (FGJT) in the San Miguel subdivision, where the arrest warrant was executed for a homicide committed on July 6, 2024. According to the investigations, the detainee shot a car salesman in the 20 de Noviembre ejido, in a place known as “El Pozo”, causing his death and wounding another person before fleeing.

This case became public knowledge when Oziel “C”‘s relatives issued a wanted list after his arrival in Matamoros from the United States. However, authorities confirmed that he was not a missing soldier, but a fugitive from justice. After his arrest, Oziel “C” was placed at the disposal of a control judge, who ordered his preventive detention and linked him to trial. He is currently incarcerated in the Santa Adelaida prison, where he will face charges for homicide.
