Mérida Police Chase Elderly Man After Plant Theft and Attempted Hit-and-Run

As of Sunday afternoon, it is unknown if the police managed to apprehend the suspect.

This Sunday, an elderly man caught stealing grass and plants in Paseo de Montejo triggered a police chase after he attempted to run over a young man who confronted him while walking his dogs.

This incident has gone viral on social media, as the aggressive grandfather was captured on video being confronted by another person, leading to an argument and subsequently a chase by Public Security Secretariat officers.

The man was so enraged that he confronted the young man recording him but ended up falling to the ground.

The elderly man then got into his truck and tried to run over the man recording him, even driving onto the sidewalk, which witnesses reported to the police.

A patrol from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) arrived at the scene, causing the man in the truck to flee at high speed, resulting in a chase.

As of Sunday afternoon, it was unknown if the police managed to apprehend him.
