Migrants in Mexico: 12,000 people have crossed through Sonora this year; 14% have been minors

Of the migrant population that crosses through the state of Sonora, 14 percent are minors, both accompanied and unaccompanied, said the director of migrant care Bernardeth Ruiz Romero.

She clarified that they have been given humanitarian care and facilitation for their return to their places of origin.

“The truth is that the number of girls and boys and in this case adolescents are less than 20 percent, they are around 14 percent that we have had, it does not mean that they come unaccompanied, but that they travel with their families,” she said.
