A torrent that hit this capital turned tunnels into rivers and swept away vehicles with people on board who were asking for help, to the astonishment of visitors.

On the Miguel Hidalgo Underground Street, the occupants of a black vehicle experienced moments of anguish when they were pulled by the current, without being able to control it. The water reached the level of their windows.

Other cars were covered by the water. The rescue teams of the municipality joined in to neutralize the risks caused by the storm that occurred in the La Cañada area.

Civil Protection and Firefighters implemented an inspection and monitoring operation, and reported that “so far there are no injured or trapped people.”

On the Underground Street, the water reached a considerable level at the height of the facilities of the Municipal System of Potable Water and Sewerage of Guanajuato (SIMAPAG).

“Avoid leaving home if it is not necessary. Emergency services are working and, in case of emergency, call 9-1-1 or 473-148-14-60,” the mayor posted.

I urge the community to remain calm.

In a statement, the Municipal Government reported tonight that thanks to the timely intervention of the authorities, the water level has gradually decreased in the Subterranean.

However, it reiterated the call to citizens not to take said road while safe circulation conditions are not guaranteed.
