A police officer from Pénjamo earns $21,000 a month; better paid than one from León

León es uno de los municipios con los salarios más altos para sus policías municipales en Guanajuato.

This is according to the Salary and Wage Schedule for Members of Municipal Police Institutions of the State Public Security Secretariat.

According to the official salary schedule of the State Public Security Secretariat, Pénjamo is the municipality that pays its municipal police officers the most. In this municipality, the salary of a rank-and-file police officer is $21,951.38 pesos per month.

In second place is San Miguel de Allende, which pays $20,138.46 pesos per month to its rank-and-file police officers.

Irapuato follows, with salaries of $19,846.63 pesos and León, with salaries of $18,803.14 pesos.

On the other hand, Yuriria is the municipality that pays its municipal police officers the least, with salaries of $13,740.24 pesos per month.

This Monday, the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Board of Directors of the State Public Security Training Institute (INFOSPE) was held, where several recommendations were approved on the Salary and Wage Schedule for Members of Municipal Police Institutions for the 2025 fiscal year.

Among these recommendations, it is established that the minimum monthly net salary for a rank-and-file municipal police officer in Guanajuato should be $13,740.34 pesos.

The meeting was chaired by the State Secretary of Public Security, Alvar Cabeza de Vaca Appendini, as President of the Board of Directors.

Another of the recommendations approved unanimously during the session is that the salary of each rank in the scale of municipal police forces should increase by 20%, up to the sixth rank.

And the salary of police officers should be made up of at least 70% of the salary and the remaining 30% of complementary benefits.
