In the last two months, security problems have increased on the roads of neighboring states, so many of the merchants who came to stock up on their merchandise at the Centro Comercial Agropecuario (CCA) have stopped doing so, a situation that has caused sales to drop by up to forty percent, as reported by Gerardo Palomino Macias, president of said market.
He added that the security problem experienced in municipalities of Zacatecas and Jalisco has caused many grocers to lower their shutters, while others choose to place their orders and the same grocers or distributors take them, but that means they no longer come and stop buying fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products and other items such as plastics and cans.
Palomino Macias stressed that one of the main problems that one has once leaving the state is that on the roads they are assaulted, their merchandise is taken and sometimes they are even beaten, they have even gone so far as to extort their families, because they know that they are dealing with merchants and they think that perhaps they have money.
We have had cases in which once passing La Chona they are assaulted and their trucks are taken or on the north side, people who came from Loreto, Villa García, Ojocaliente have also had the same thing happen to them, it is urgent that the state patrols return because in most cases the roads are empty and there is no one to take care of the merchants, and even our transporters who are the ones who come to drop off the merchandise and are often assaulted.
The representative of the Agricultural and Livestock sector commented that the situation is becoming increasingly critical because there is a period of low sales because all products have become more expensive, in addition to the problem of insecurity, the Agricultural and Livestock Commercial Center is in the red. However, there is confidence that the last four months of the year can be recovered and have an upturn since many festivities are coming up.
