The Mérida City Council Will Build 20 Cisterns in Problematic Areas of the City

On Tuesday morning, the mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, supervised the construction of three cisterns located on Pedagógica Avenue, in the Vergel III subdivision.

The mayor was accompanied by Jorge Alberto Espinoza Atoche, director of Municipal Public Services, who mentioned that the construction of other cisterns in the city center and other areas of Mérida is planned.

Cecilia Patrón mentioned that 20 cisterns will be built in problematic areas of the city and invited citizens not to pour soapy or chlorinated water into the drainage system as it clogs rainwater wells, sewers, and cisterns.

Regarding investment, she mentioned that they are currently calculating costs as they are still contracting services and redirecting the budget that was left to them. For now, the focus is on public services such as pothole repair, public lighting, drainage, street repaving, and garbage collection.
