These are the coldest municipalities in Jalisco… in winter

En todos estos municipios no se registran nevadas, sin embargo, aunque han ocurrido, lo más probable es que lleguen a presentarse heladas. EL INFORMADOR / ARCHIVO

Jalisco is one of the states with the most pleasant climate in Mexico, as it does not usually record high temperatures as they do in the southeast or the north during spring and summer, but neither do they drop extremely as they do in the north during winter; in general, minimum temperatures can be 5 to 10 degrees in cold seasons, and in hot seasons they do not always exceed 40 degrees.

In winter, when thermometers drop due to the entry of jet streams into the country, you surely wonder which are the places in Jalisco with the coldest climate during the last season of the year.

Although it is true that in the collective memory of the people of Jalisco there is the memory that on December 13, 1997 the lowest temperature was recorded so far, with -7 degrees Celsius and a snowfall in several municipalities including those of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Zone (ZMG), you should know that this was due to the presence of a strong “El Niño” phenomenon.

However, there are municipalities where freezing temperatures are recorded, although the days are not so frequent.

These are the coldest municipalities in Jalisco during the winter:

Mezquitic
Tapalpa
Totatiche
Huejuquilla el Alto
Villa Guerrero
Lagos de Moreno
San Miguel El Alto
Encarnación de Díaz

In all these municipalities there is no snowfall, however, although it has occurred, it is most likely that frost will occur.

The only place where snow falls in Jalisco is in the Nevado de Colima, although this has to do with the altitude, which is higher than 4 thousand meters above sea level.

On the other hand, the cold municipalities that we already mentioned are located in the Altos region, where thermometers can record temperatures below zero degrees.
