AMLO stresses that violence in Sinaloa is to discredit his government: “It is to induce fear in the population”

Before the members of the press who meet in the Treasury Room of the National Palace, the Morena member stressed that the only thing these media outlets seek is to frighten the population, for which he sent a message to the citizens regarding the fact that the Armed Forces are already working to return peace in the state.

Once the president assured that the events correspond to a campaign of discredit, the founder of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), said:

“I take advantage of this again to tell the citizens of Sinaloa that we are following up on the problem, that we are acting in a professional, responsible manner, that there are elements of the Armed Forces in Sinaloa whose mission is first, to protect the civilian population, all citizens and second, to prevent the groups that are in conflict from confronting each other and that is what we are doing, however, our adversaries use this to frighten and I hope that little by little the situation will normalize right now in Sinaloa.”

It is worth remembering that just one day before, the head of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), Luis Crescencio Sandoval, announced in La Mañanera that the violent events in the entity governed by Rubén Rocha Moya have resulted in a total of 30 civilian deaths and two military personnel, deaths of which “22 have been in the city of Culiacán, which is where we have the largest number of troops,” he said.

“From the 9th [of September] and to date, we have had 13 attacks: nine injuries to Army personnel and four attacks on the National Guard. As a result of these attacks, unfortunately we have two military personnel dead: an officer and a sergeant,” reported the head of Sedena.
The head of Sedena stressed that the events that shake Sinaloa correspond to a confrontation between antagonistic groups that the authorities have faced to minimize the violence, an act that he assured has yielded good results. Today the president insisted that the media is maximizing the facts.
