Clandestine crematorium found in Cancún

A clandestine crematorium used by organized crime was located in an open-roof construction in the irregular settlement of Tres Reyes in Cancún, Quintana Roo.

“Inside the property, they found an oven with charred human remains, which were secured and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry of this Social Representation, to be included in the investigation file initiated by this discovery,” reported the state prosecutor’s office.

The operation involved elements from all three levels of government, as well as members of the “Truth, Memory, and Justice Collective.”

During a tour of the area, searchers found charred fragments. “We could see some surgical, metallic pieces, evidence was made of it, and we informed the authorities. We call on society that if they have any missing relatives to come through us,” said Romana Rivera Ramírez.

The collective announced a new search campaign on September 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23.
