Man Dies After Jumping from the Seventh Floor of a Hotel in Mérida

On the morning of Thursday, September 19, a man died at a hotel in the Xcumpich neighborhood of Mérida after falling from the seventh floor.

The deceased was a guest at a hotel located on 3rd Street with 20B, right behind the licensing module of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).

Authorities reported that a call to the emergency number 9-1-1 alerted them that a man had fallen this morning from the seventh floor of a hotel in northern Mérida. It was also indicated that he was staying there with his family.

It was also revealed that the person who lost his life was of Dutch origin and was 57 years old. His family mentioned that he was under psychological and psychiatric treatment.

The report also stated that the man had gone up to the pool area (on the top floor) early in the morning and either accidentally fell or jumped to the ground below.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information can be provided.

The hotel staff immediately reported the incident to the emergency number 9-1-1, and sector elements and the State Investigation Police of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) arrived at the scene, but there was nothing they could do for the person, who died instantly.

Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) also arrived at the scene for the corresponding procedures and the removal of the body. They have cordoned off the area and are working to clarify the facts.
