The governor-elect of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, announced today that the first stage of Line 5 will begin to be built starting next January.

In an interview, he explained that this stage will run from the Guadalajara International Airport to the Agua Azul Park.

“We are already in very deep talks with the Pacific Airport Group, because Line 5 starts inside the airport,” he explained.

He explained that this will be very practical for passengers, since they will be able to get on Line 5 and connect to Mi Macro Periférico and quickly get to the Akron Stadium.

“This has already been delivered to the teams of Dr. Sheinbaum, to the next head of the Office of the Presidency, as well as to the person who will preside over this Economic Council, which is our countrywoman Altagracia Gómez, so that it is considered in the Federation’s Expenditure Budget,” he said.

He clarified that the State Government’s 2025 budget will include 650 million pesos to carry out the first works.

It is projected to increase the highway to Chapala by two lanes in each direction to gain four lanes.

He mentioned that it is a system very similar to that of Mi Macro, that is, gaining two lanes in each direction, installing hydraulic concrete, installing sidewalks, bike lanes and lighting.

“It is a project to modify the urban image of the entrance to the city, together with the construction of a new public transport line that would be Line 5,” he concluded.

Finally, he said that a DRT train system is being considered because it has more advantages, such as greater capacity, lower cost in the infrastructure of hydraulic concrete and it is the new technology.
